Don’t you just love it when you go in search for one thing and end up finding something else which is infinitely more useful/prettier/better?
I’ve been looking for my I.D for what seems like a lifetime. I’ve searched high and low and side to side and back to front! I think it’s still having too much fun playing hide and seek with me. I’ll let her be, she’ll give up one day.
Good news is : although ID is still missing, I’ve managed to find a whole ziplock bag full of jade rings!
I got these from a trip to Hong Kong just before I moved to NY. They were selling them at the Jade Market for pennies so I went ahead and bought one in every color of the rainbow (well, ish). My poor auntie Beth had to practice patience as I spent hours digging into tubs and piles of jade to find the right color, size, blah, etc.

This ziplock discovery couldn’t be more timely.
These mix-and-match stackable rings are the answer to my prayers as I exhaust every effort to be fabulously frugal in response to the challenges of global financial and economical instability. Desperate times call for desperate (and creative) measures and Im of the opinion that dual/triple/multi-purpose jewelry give you the most bang for buck.
…..
RULES FOR MIXING:
THERE ARE NO RULES!!!!
That’s a lie. Read further down on how I match the jade rings to bring out their maximum beauty.

Number 1 is that I always make it a point to add some glittery carbon in the mix since jades aren’t shiny enough. When I want to use the thicker jade, I add these two eternity rings that I courteously stole from mother when she was in NY.
(What is that horrendousness that is my fingernail? I didn’t think it was that bad until I saw this! I will sort them out once I finish writing this.)

Number 2: When I feel like wearing the thinner jade bands I use this gold double layer eternity band I got from my gorgeous jeweller/antique dealer in Edinburgh. Malena, I miss you so much!
(I haven’t even bothered looking for a dealer in NY because it wouldn’t sit well with this whole ‘economising thing’ I’ve committed myself to. Knowing me, I’ll start making friends with him/her, chat over coffee, go for brunch, meet his/her family and before I know it I’m sucked in because I love buying things from people I like. Better to avoid the situation all together.)

DIAMONDS + JADE = infinite possibilities

I’ve even tried adding them on to my pearl earrings that my other auntie gave me after my mom had confiscated my jewels as punishment for doing something naughty. I sank into depression and literally begged to be grounded or physically chastised instead. Those were some very lonely nights without having anything to polish or clean.

To abruptly conclude:
When the going gets tough, buy stackable jade rings! Then go through your mother or grandmother’s drawers and cabinets to see if they have some diamond eternity rings kicking about.
