I’m easily excitable. Fact. Over the weirdest things as well. Like I was never really good at physics (I was even worse in geometry. I HATED proving things which I already knew were true so I never really bothered to memorise all that postulate crap) but I remember being quite intrigued by  quarks. Admittedly, because it came in cute different flavors…but also because of the idea behind it. You know, how something so minute and invisible to the naked eye can build up masses of matter and how life kinda operates in the same way. (You’ve got famous personalities that instigate political change in all their grandiosity but the actual foundations of any movement lies in the nameless people rallying behind it.) Anyway, I lost interest in quarks in about 10 seconds and flitted to the next big idea my teachers fed me that didn’t bore me.

Over the years I’ve learned to consciously calm myself down. Reading and writing is excellent because you can physically relax without disengaging from life, so you don’t really miss out on anything. Being mentally active and generating ideas with different scenarios while lazing in a couch is so much fun. It’s at par with cleaning the toilet bowl while reciting an extemporaneous speech.

Apart from the oddities, one of my non-crazy passions that NEVER fails to excite me is discovering creative people who are out there converting their visions into tangible products. I was invited by Amanda and Cristiano to check out their showroom for a viewing of Laura Vela’s handbag line, and the moment I saw animal prints I was sold. Actually, I was sold way before that as Laura and I have a couple of mutual friends who introduced us to each other eons ago. She was so lovely and kind that I liked her handbags even before I saw them in person.

A little sneak peak into her Spring/Summer 2012 collection reveals delicious colors and prints in the most supple of leathers crafted and tanned in Argentina.

One thing I instantly noticed were the bags weight. The bags definitely gets A marks for being light. My mother and I have issues with heavy bags. You know them, the ones that weigh like bricks even before you put a lipstick in it. (It took me a while to learn, but back pains have the awesome ability to impart fashion wisdom)

Thank you Amanda and Cristiano! I had such a lovely time chatting with you and playing in your showroom.

Visit Laura’s site to view her lookbooks, products and just general amazingness

MANGO FALL/WINTER FASHION SHOW I remember one of the first few times I ever stepped into Mango…(i was obsessed with the candy they used to give for free by the counter!)..it was in Glorietta back in early 2001.  It was days before a trip abroad and my mom, my sister and I were on the hunt for leather jackets.  We found the perfect one and we’ve been hooked ever since.

MANGO (20) MANGO (21) Surprise surprise! Last Wednesday, I actually left my cave and attended the MANGO Fall/Winter 2011 fashion show hosted by Bianca Valerio in Resorts World. Outfits were put together by Manila’s up and coming stylists — Myrrh Lao To, Ana Canlas of Preview, Bianca Santiago-Reinoso of Maven Magazine, Patrick Galang, and Teej Nepomuceno.

Wearing a top from CC-OO, ARANAZ bag, F21 shorts

My “posse” for the evening — dragged these two boys (who I’m sure were really there to ogle at the models rather than the clothes) and kidnapped Mandi (who happens to be our friend’s younger sister) of Chic Material.

Made For Blackberry Playbook (3)Made For Blackberry Playbook (2) Made For Blackberry Playbook (4)
I was invited a few days ago to a little makeover x photoshoot shot by Louie Aguinaldo that was held by Blackberry Philippines. We were given a chance to test out the Playbook and see all the accessories that can accompany it! The cases are so on-trend with its structured silhouettes and a bright color palette, it makes me want to get a Playbook just for it!

Here are some of my picks:

Last night, yours truly  graced the runway for Kaboodle’s Fab at Five Fete and Fashion Show for New York’s Internet Week.

And in case you were wondering..no, I didn’t fall. :)

It was held at the chic Altman Building down at Chelsea and was an evening full of primping, champagne, and good company.

Photography fail, mother. Aversion to technological devices is in our genes.

THE BEST PART OF THE EVENING:

Seeing all the beautiful people in my NY life who took time off their busy schedule and came to support me.

The Philippine Ambassador’s wife Mrs. Fe Cabactulan, her lovely daughter/my wonderful friend Rina Ortega and my stunnnninggggg mumma

And my ever supportive Spanish crew whom I love with every inch of my being.

Gracias, mis amores.

Many thanks to the Kaboodle team, Bloomingdales for our outfits, and Paul Labrecque Salon & Spa for our hair and make-up.
